The Most Advanced Tools

The Most Advanced Tools in the Orthodontic Industry

Our team of specialists uses the very latest materials and techniques to ensure your child receives the most up-to-date orthodontic treatment available. We are on the forefront of computer technology with the most updated dental equipment including computer simulated orthodontic models and braces, digital radiography, SPEED braces, Invisalign orthodontic appliances and Sci-scan sterilization,. We feel our high-tech equipment coupled with experience in the latest techniques provides your child with the safest most advanced treatment available in orthodontics today.

Three-Dimensional Imaging Helps Treatment Planning (OrthoCAD)

Three-Dimensional Imaging Helps Treatment Planning (OrthoCAD)
Computer generated three-dimensional imaging is replacing plaster models of the teeth. Virtual model technology allows us to predict and test various treatment options, which is not possible with traditional plaster models. This results in a more accurate treatment plan.

Digital Placement of Braces Decreases Treatment Time (OrthoCAD IQ)

Digital Placement of Braces Decreases Treatment Time (OrthoCAD IQ)
Virtual model technology further allows us to manipulate and precisely place braces on digital teeth. This allows us to virtually review the precision of the treatment outcome prior to starting actual treatment in the patient’s mouth. Any discrepancies in ideal treatment can be quickly seen and adjusted. The customized virtual braces are then reproduced onto a live model that can be precisely transferred to the patient’s mouth. This results in a more comfortable experience for the patient by decreasing the amount of time the mouth is open to place the braces from 1 hour to only 10 minutes. The precision of the computer aided bracket placement also prevents any unwanted tooth movement resulting in less adjustments and shorter visits while considerably savings overall treatment time. Most of our patients complete orthodontic treatment within 8-18 months.

Digital Radiography (X-Rays)

Digital Radiography (X-Rays)
We understand your concern with exposing your child to x-rays. Therefore, we will only take x-rays that are necessary to provide your child with the appropriate clinical care. Our state of the art digital x-ray equipment allows us to obtain the best diagnostic images while using the smallest amount of radiation possible. Digital radiography has decreased the amount of radiation exposure by 90% compared to standard x-ray film.

Self-Ligating Braces (SPEED braces)

Self-Ligating Braces (SPEED braces)
Self-Ligating braces are considered to be the most efficient types of braces in orthodontics to date. Their decreased friction aids in tooth movement and their efficient manipulation during treatment visits allows us to schedule most of your appointments to a mere 15 minutes. Traditional braces are tied in or tightened with wire or elastic ligatures, which increases their friction, the appointment time, and in most instances the individual’s discomfort. We use SPEED braces because they are the smallest self-ligating brace on the market and have been the industry leader for over 30 years. They have the longest clinical track record and we believe are the most technologically advanced brace available.

Clear retainers

Clear retainers
Whether you need them or not (some lucky individuals have naturally stable teeth), everyone gets retainers. Dental materials have advanced so much that we no longer need to use bulky acrylic wire retainers. Once your teeth have been straightened you will be fitted with a clear retainer that is virtually invisible. The special polymer is extremely thin, durable and translucent. Unlike bulky wire retainers, clear retainers encompasses the entire tooth structure and only need to be worn at night allowing for a simple and comfortable way to insure your teeth remain straight.

Temporary Anchorage Devices (Mini Screws)

Temporary Anchorage Devices (Mini Screws)
Strategically placing small titanium screws in the mouth can aid in the movement of teeth, eliminates the need for Head Gear and other cumbersome appliances, and in many instances prevents the need for more invasive surgical procedures. Placement of a Mini Screw is done in the office and is easier than getting a filling. It only takes about 10 minutes and the amount of discomfort after the procedure is negligible.

Aligner Treatment (Invisalign)

Aligner Treatment (Invisalign)
In special instances, a non-brace treatment may be used to correct minor orthodontic problems in adult patients or young patients with a fully erupted permanent dentition. Three-dimensional images of the individual’s mouth are taken and manipulated to fabricate a series of clear aligners that can sequentially move teeth to a prescribed location. The treatment outcomes and times are comparable to brace treatment and the advantages of not having braces are obvious.

State of the art sterilization

State of the art sterilization
We use disposable items whenever possible but all our non disposable instruments are cleaned, sterilized and packaged using the latest technology (SciCan) in our state of the art central sterilization room. We take your health and safety very seriously and along with individually monitoring ALL our instruments, we test the efficacy of our sterilization equipment weekly.

Heat Activated Nickel Titanium Wires
All brace systems require wires to move teeth. Stainless steel wires are strong unforgiving stiff wires that have served this purpose for the longest period of time. Nitinol (an acronym for Nickel Titanium Naval Ordnance Laboratories) was developed by the military in the early 1960’s and first used as an orthodontic wire in 1975. These wires gave orthodontists the ability to manipulate teeth greater distances over a longer period of time without added adjustment visits. Heat activated nickel titanium wires are the latest incarnation of the flexible wires. They have properties that allow for the greatest amount of tooth movement over the longest periods of time with the added benefit of constant gentle forces. The wire can be cooled prior to placement, which changes its physical properties transforming it into an extremely soft and pliable material. This allows for easy placement with virtually no discomfort to the patient. The warmth from ones mouth then causes the wire to gently spring into action moving the teeth in the most biologically favorable manner.
